Registry of Our Interred and grave locator

"The wholeness of a people are diminished, if the ancestors are not honored" (African Proverb)

The Foundation's Registry of Our Interred and Grave Locator enables descendants, relatives, and visitors to SEARCH records of persons interred in these sacred grounds, and identify their place of burial.

Enter parts of a full name, or Year of Death, in the 'magnifying glass' field - the Search will present up to twenty matching names (e.g. "Cartwright", to display and enable selection of Lewis Cartwright).  Select the  person of interest, and then click the magnifying glass to display their burial location on a map of the Cemeteries.

The rendered map of the burial grounds can be enlarged or reduced or moved about using 'pinching' and 'dragging' gestures on a touch sensitive mobile or pad device.  The plus/minus buttons in the corner of the map display will also change the size of the map.

Multiple colored location dots may be associated with an individual. For example, Lewis Cartwright's Blue dot indicates his headstone/grave location was mapped in January 2026, while the Gold dot defines his headstone or grave as recorded in a 1975 burial ground survey.

An individual's burial ground maybe depicted by a red square. This conveys that we know the cemetery of burial (Mount Zion, or the Female Union Band Society), but do not know their grave or headstone location.

Clicking" on the displayed dot or square reveals details for the deceased, and photos of the gravesite and gravestone if known.

You can access a self-guided walking tour of the cemeteries by scanning this encoded image using your mobile device camera (as you may have done on restaurant menus and other documents). The encoded image is also available on signage at the cemetery grounds.

The tour introduces you to our two cemeteries and acquaints you with some of the individuals for whom this sanctuary is their final resting place. The walking tour takes about 30 minutes to complete.  We encourage you to share feedback about your visit using the form at the program end.  We hope your visit creates new personal awareness, and a thirst to continue your education.
